SDC 923PW Narrow Digital Keypad Reader
Overview
The 923PW is a standalone access reader combining proximity and keypad input in a narrow form factor designed for retrofit and new construction door frame installations. It accepts 125kHz proximity credentials and 1–6 digit PIN codes, outputting both via 26-bit Wiegand protocol. Operating at 16VDC with typical current draw of 30mA, the 923PW integrates into legacy and modern access control systems without requiring a separate control unit. The die-cast metal housing (black powder coat) is rated for indoor/outdoor use with weather and vandal resistance—relevant for exterior doors, loading docks, or high-traffic areas where credential readers take physical abuse.
Compatibility
The 923PW outputs 26-bit Wiegand, the de facto standard for access control panel integration. It works with any system accepting standard Wiegand input—including IPPro controllers, most legacy card readers, and modern IP-based access platforms that include Wiegand gateway modules. Supports HID, Honeywell, and compatible 125kHz proximity card formats. User capacity is 500 profiles, suitable for small-to-medium facilities (single building, multi-tenant office, warehouse, or retail locations). Before installation, verify your host control panel has available Wiegand input ports and your power supply can source 16VDC at 150mA peak (worst-case simultaneous keypad illumination and read cycle).
Installation Notes
The 923PW ships with a 6-inch pigtail for hardwired integration. Dimensions are 1¾″W × 7½″H × 1¾″D with 1½″ wall projection—confirm cutout space before ordering. Operating temperature range is −4°F to +140°F (−20°C to +60°C); humidity tolerance is 5–95% non-condensing. Mounting requires standard access reader rough-in or surface backbox. Use shielded twisted-pair cabling for Wiegand runs over 50 feet to avoid capacitive noise on data lines—a common source of intermittent read failures in noisy electrical environments.
