Overview
The SDC 631RFA is a regulated, filtered linear DC power controller designed to supply stable 12 or 24VDC to distributed access control hardware across multi-door installations. The unit draws 115 VAC input (800 mA, 50/60 Hz) and outputs a fixed 1.5 AMP at your field-selected voltage — enough headroom to power door strikes, readers, and control logic without requiring separate supply chains for different voltage requirements. The 16" × 14" × 6½" steel cabinet (16-gauge) sits in electrical closets, equipment racks, or wall-mounted panels. Built-in surge protection on input and output lines guards against transients that kill unprotected gear. An isolated 13.5/27 VDC battery charging circuit with low-battery disconnect keeps backup power topped off and prevents system collapse if mains power drops. Visual LED status indicator and remote annunciation outputs let you spot supply faults without opening the cabinet.
Compatibility
The 631RFA integrates into SDC multi-door access control systems and third-party platforms that accept Class 2 regulated DC input. It accepts optional plug-in boards (VR, ACM, EMC, FB, UR1, CR, UR2, UR4, IPDC, IPDS) to customize functionality for your control logic and communication architecture. Optional accessories include a key-lock cover (KL), 6-foot power cord (PC), and power on/off switches (PS1 or PS1A) — verify availability and part numbers with your supplier before ordering.
Installation Notes
Mount the cabinet in a location with adequate ventilation and access to 115 VAC utility power. The field-selectable dual-voltage switch lets you choose 12 or 24VDC output without swapping components — set it once during commissioning. Wire battery backup terminals to your UPS or standby battery following SDC polarity markings. Connect the fire/emergency release input if your installation requires fail-safe door release on alarm. Use the remote annunciation outputs to feed status signals to your BMS or security panel. The 1.5 AMP output is final load capacity — add up all downstream devices and confirm total draw does not exceed this rating, leaving 20–30% headroom for inrush current during reader initialization.
