Description

Middle Atlantic KDE2S Knock-Down Rack Shelf Ears, 2 RU

Overview

The Middle Atlantic KDE2S is a pair of 2 RU knock-down rack shelf ears designed for integrators who need to field-assemble or replace the ear components on KDB-series bottom-vented utility rackshelves. At 19 inches wide and 11.47 inches deep with a 50-lb weight capacity, the KDE2S supports dense rack builds where a shelf must carry network switches, media converters, or AV gear without flex or sag. The knock-down format ships flat and assembles on-site — useful when pulling cable through tight rack bays before final shelf installation.

Compatibility

Designed specifically for use with Middle Atlantic KDB-series bottom-vented rackshelf assemblies. The KDE2S ears attach at the 19-inch standard rack width with 2 mounting points per side, conforming to EIA-310 rack rail spacing. These ears are not interchangeable with Middle Atlantic's KD non-vented shelf ears or other shelf families — confirm your shelf base model is from the KDB series before ordering. The 2 RU height (3.5 in) limits use to shelves occupying exactly 2U of rack space; 1RU or 3RU shelf variants require their respective ear kits.

Installation Notes

Mounting points: 2 per ear, aligned to standard 19-inch rack enclosure rails. Assembled shelf depth reaches 11.47 inches — verify front-to-rear rail depth in your rack cabinet before install, particularly in shallow-depth wall-mount enclosures where 12-inch rails are common. Shipping weight is 1.54 lbs; the assembled shelf accepts loads up to 50 lbs distributed evenly across the shelf surface. No special tooling beyond a standard screwdriver is implied by the hardware design.
