Overview
The Middle Atlantic U2MS is a 2U vented center-mount rack shelf designed for housing non-rack-mountable equipment in standard 19-inch EIA enclosures. The U2MS occupies 3.47 inches of vertical rack space and extends 18.63 inches deep — enough clearance for most mid-size AV receivers, power conditioners, or unmanaged network gear that lacks its own rack ears. Center-mount geometry means the shelf attaches at two points along the center rail rather than the front rail, keeping the load balanced and reducing cantilever stress on the rack frame. The 50 lb weight capacity handles dense equipment loads without deflection. Venting in the shelf surface allows passive airflow from equipment below to pass through, reducing heat buildup in densely populated enclosures.
Compatibility
Fits any standard 19-inch EIA-310 rack enclosure with two-post or four-post mounting. Compatible with the full Middle Atlantic rack and enclosure line, including the BGR, ERK, SRSR, and PTRK series frames. Also mounts in third-party 19-inch two-post open frames and four-post enclosed cabinets that follow EIA-310-D rail spacing (18.31 inches between rail mounting surfaces). Not intended for wall-mount or surface-mount applications — requires a vertical rack structure with tapped or untapped rails. At 19 inches wide and 18.63 inches deep, confirm your enclosure has at least 18.75 inches of usable interior depth before ordering. For shallower enclosures, verify rail-to-rear-panel clearance against the 18.63-inch shelf depth. If your application involves heavier equipment, review other rack shelf options with higher rated capacities.
Installation Notes
Mounts via 2 mounting points — one on each side rail. Uses standard 10-32 or 12-24 rack screws depending on your enclosure rail type; hardware not included (verify your rail thread before ordering). Center-mount design requires access to mid-rail positions, which may conflict with pre-wired cable managers or brush panels installed at the same RU.
