The Middle Atlantic KDE2 is a pair of 2U knock-down rack shelf ears designed for building open rackshelf assemblies in standard 19-inch EIA racks. At 15.47 inches deep and rated for 50 lbs, the KDE2 gives integrators a clean way to support AV equipment, recorders, or IT gear that needs a rigid shelf surface without a full enclosed shelf unit — useful when airflow or cable routing matters more than an enclosed bottom panel. The black powder coat finish matches standard rack aesthetics. Each set ships as one pair.
Compatibility
Designed for standard 19-inch EIA/ECA rack systems with 2U of available space. The 15.47-inch depth suits most mid-depth two-post and four-post open racks. At 50 lbs rated capacity, the KDE2 handles typical NVR chassis, AV receivers, and managed PoE switches — anything heavier than that requires a heavier-duty shelf solution. These ears are part of Middle Atlantic's KD (Knock-Down) utility rackshelf system and pair with compatible Middle Atlantic shelf panels to form a complete rackshelf assembly. Verify your rack's internal depth before ordering — the 15.47-inch ear depth requires at least that much clearance behind the front rail.
Installation Notes
Mounts at two points per ear into standard rack rail square or threaded holes. The knock-down design means the shelf panel (sold separately) slides into the ears on-site, keeping shipping dimensions compact for large project quantities. Confirm rail spacing and hole pattern (10-32 threaded, 12-24, or square hole) match your existing rack before installation — Middle Atlantic's KD system is designed for standard EIA 19-inch racks but not all rail patterns are interchangeable.
