Description

Middle Atlantic SSL 1RU Sliding Rack Shelf — 35 Lb Capacity, Black Laminate

Overview

The Middle Atlantic SSL is a 1 RU sliding rack shelf built for equipment that needs temporary access without full removal — think media players, cable boxes, small appliances, or test gear that operators pull forward regularly. The SSL fits standard 19-inch EIA rack rails and extends on a slide mechanism to expose gear without requiring a second set of hands to hold it. At 13.75 inches of usable depth and a 35 lb weight capacity, it handles most compact AV and security hardware comfortably. The black laminate finish integrates cleanly into Middle Atlantic rack systems and most third-party open-frame or enclosed racks.

Compatibility

Fits any standard 19-inch EIA/ECA-310 rack rail system — including Middle Atlantic rack enclosures, open-frame racks, and compatible third-party cabinets. The shelf occupies exactly 1 RU (1.75 in / 44.4 mm). Mounting depth adjusts from 15.1 in minimum to 23.9 in maximum, accommodating both shallow-depth wall cabinets and full-depth network rack enclosures. Four mounting points (two per rail) distribute load evenly. Equipment footprint must not exceed 13.75 in usable depth; deeper chassis will overhang the shelf surface and are not supported. Weight capacity is 35 lbs — sufficient for most 1U appliances, but verify before mounting heavier switching or server gear.

Installation Notes

Mounting depth is field-adjustable between 15.1 in and 23.9 in — set rail depth before inserting the shelf, as adjustment requires removing the unit from the rack. All four mounting points must be secured; using only two front-rail points reduces load distribution and risks tipping under lateral slide force. Shipping weight is 10.6 lbs; plan for two-person install in overhead or high-bay rack mounting positions.
