Overview
The QSW-M2108R-2C-US is a 1U rackmount Layer 2 web managed switch purpose-built for high-bandwidth NAS and network storage environments. With eight 2.5GbE RJ45 ports and two 10GbE SFP+/RJ45 combo uplinks, it delivers the multi-gigabit access throughput that modern NAS-connected workloads — backup servers, surveillance NVRs, and media editing stations — demand from a standard 802.3 copper infrastructure. The 2.5GbE downlinks give every connected device five times the bandwidth of gigabit without requiring a full 10GbE infrastructure overhaul, while the 10GbE combo uplinks handle aggregated traffic to a core switch or directly to a QNAP NAS with a 10GbE port. Web-managed access provides VLAN segmentation, port-based QoS, and traffic monitoring without the overhead of a full CLI-managed switch — the right tradeoff for integrators deploying managed network switches in SMB and mid-market environments where IT staff is limited.
Compatibility
Designed to pair directly with QNAP NAS units equipped with 10GbE or 2.5GbE interfaces, including the TVS-h series, TS-h series, and TL-series JBOD expansion units connected via 10GbE hosts. The 10GbE SFP+ combo ports accept both SFP+ transceivers and standard RJ45 10GBASE-T connections, giving flexibility when connecting to uplink infrastructure. The 2.5GbE RJ45 downlinks are compatible with any 2.5GBASE-T client device — workstations with 2.5GbE NICs, IP cameras on PoE-capable switches daisy-chained downstream, and NAS expansion units. For network video recorders and surveillance deployments, the 2.5GbE ports support the sustained throughput needed for multi-stream 4K recording without the cost of per-port 10GbE. Installation Notes
The rackmount 1U form factor requires a standard 19-inch rack. The SFP+/RJ45 combo uplink ports are combo interfaces — only one medium (SFP+ or RJ45) is active per port at a time; wire accordingly. Web management is browser-based with no dedicated management software required, but assign a static management IP before deploying in a production VLAN environment to avoid address conflicts after VLAN configuration.
