Overview

The QM2-2P2G2T is a PCIe Gen3 x4 expansion card that adds two M.2 2280 NVMe SSD slots and two 2.5GbE network ports to a compatible QNAP NAS in a single PCIe slot. If your NAS has open PCIe real estate but lacks M.2 bays and multi-gigabit network connections, the QM2-2P2G2T addresses both gaps simultaneously — useful when you want SSD caching or a tiered storage pool without sacrificing a slot to a standalone NIC. The dual 2.5GBASE-T ports use an Intel I225LM controller supporting 2.5G/1G/100M/10M auto-negotiation, so the card works with existing Cat5e/Cat6 infrastructure while delivering the throughput headroom that NVMe-backed storage actually demands. The M.2 interface runs PCIe Gen3, meaning NVMe drives operate at their rated speeds rather than being bottlenecked by a slower bus.

Compatibility

Designed for QNAP NAS units with an available PCIe Gen3 x4 (or wider) slot. Compatible host devices include QNAP NAS systems from the TVS, TVS-h, TS-x73A, TS-x77, TS-x83XU, TS-x88X, and TS-x90FX series, among others — verify your specific model against QNAP's published QM2-2P2G2T compatibility list before ordering, as PCIe slot availability and QTS/QuTS version requirements vary by chassis. The M.2 slots accept 2280 form-factor drives only; 2242 and 2260 drives are not supported. Installed M.2 SSDs can be used for NAS SSD caching, Qtier auto-tiering, or dedicated caching pools depending on host firmware version. The 2.5GbE ports appear as standard network interfaces in QTS/QuTS hero and are also usable in Windows, Linux, and macOS environments when the card is installed in a compatible PCIe desktop or server.

Installation Notes

The card requires a PCIe Gen3 x4 slot at minimum; a x8 or x16 slot works electrically at x4 bandwidth. Ensure the NAS chassis has adequate clearance for a full-height or low-profile bracket as applicable — confirm bracket format for your enclosure before installation. M.2 SSDs are not included. After physical installation, QTS firmware may require a restart and a storage pool configuration step before the drives are recognized. Network drivers for the Intel I225LM controller are included in current QTS/QuTS hero builds; no separate driver installation is required on supported QNAP firmware.
