Overview

The NETGEAR RBR860S-100NAS is an AX6000-class mesh router with integrated 10 Gigabit Ethernet backhaul, designed to support high-bandwidth surveillance deployments where multiple IP cameras or NVRs stream simultaneously across wired and wireless nodes. The 1-year Armor subscription provides malware protection and intrusion detection — relevant for networks handling continuous video feeds and security appliances that need air-gap protection from compromised clients.

Compatibility

Operates as a tri-band mesh system (2.4 GHz + dual 5 GHz bands) with 802.11ax (Wi-Fi 6) support. The 10G WAN/LAN port accepts Ethernet from NVR devices, PoE switches, or upstream internet feeds. Compatible with standard ONVIF-based IP cameras and any networked surveillance device using TCP/IP. Works alongside existing PoE-powered camera networks — the router itself does not supply PoE, so pair it with a dedicated PoE injector or switch for camera power delivery.

Installation Notes

Place the primary router near your NVR or primary PoE switch to maximize the 10G wired throughput benefit. Mesh nodes (satellites) extend coverage to remote camera locations; connect critical nodes back to the primary router via Ethernet backhaul rather than wireless to preserve bandwidth for video traffic. Ensure your internet uplink and any cloud-based VMS integrations can sustain the throughput you design for — 10G backhaul is only useful if your WAN and NVR can fill it. The Armor subscription requires activation through the Netgear mobile app or web interface after installation.
