The oil rubbed bronze finish on a marine-grade 316 stainless steel faceplate makes it a practical fit for upscale residential lobbies, boutique office buildings, and institutional entrances where brushed steel reads too industrial. It draws 20V DC at 20mA minimum from the telephone line — no separate power supply required for the phone side — while the integrated proximity reader runs on 5 to 14V DC at 60mA maximum from a dedicated supply. Operating range of -30°F to 150°F and marine-grade construction means it holds up in exposed vestibules, covered exterior entrances, and coastal environments where lesser hardware corrodes.

Compatibility

The K-1770-3-BN integrates with any access control panel or intercom controller that accepts 26-bit Wiegand output from a 125KHz proximity reader — this covers the majority of legacy and current-generation panels from HID, Lenel, Software House, Bosch, Honeywell Pro-Watch, and similar platforms. The telephone line interface connects to standard analog telephone systems, PBX analog extensions, or Viking-compatible intercom controllers. For surface mounting, pair with the Viking VE-6x7 surface mount box (sold separately); flush mounting uses the included rough-in box. The keypad supports direct extension dialing when connected to a PBX or Viking call processor. Confirm your access panel accepts 26-bit Wiegand before ordering — panels requiring 34-bit or custom formats will not decode the card reads correctly.
