Server racks and cabinets are the structural foundation of any datacenter, MDF, IDF, or surveillance head-end. The right enclosure determines weight rating, airflow path, cable density, and how cleanly equipment is serviceable five years from now. Whether you're consolidating NVRs into a security closet, building an AV rack for a stadium control room, or standing up a 42U colocation cabinet, the chassis decision sets the ceiling for everything that mounts inside it.
Brands and product lines we stock
Middle Atlantic dominates the AV and security integrator space — MRK and BGR enclosed series for finished spaces, ERK open frames for service-side accessibility, and the SNE outdoor series for harsh environments. APC NetShelter SX and AR3100 cabinets are the datacenter workhorses with vendor-neutral cable management, perforated front and rear doors, and split-rear-door options for high-density deployments. Vertiv server racks cover seismic Zone 4, raised-floor, and hot-aisle/cold-aisle containment requirements.
What to consider when buying
- Static and dynamic weight load — fully loaded NVR + UPS + battery stack can exceed 2,500 lbs. Match the rated capacity, not the marketing number.
- U-height and usable depth — measure from front rail to rear rail, accounting for PDU and cable manager intrusion. Deep servers need 42 inch depth minimum.
- NEMA enclosure rating — NEMA 12 for dusty industrial, NEMA 4 for washdown, IP54 for outdoor mounting.
- Cable management integration — vertical PDU channels, side-panel D-rings, and rear cable basket compatibility.
- Airflow and ventilation — perforation percentage; front and rear doors should hit 65 percent open area minimum for hot-aisle deployments.
- Seismic certification — Zone 4 / GR-63-CORE / Telcordia compliance for west coast and telecom rooms.
- Lock and access control — keyed alike, combo, or electronic handle integration.
For high-density AI cluster builds and hot-aisle containment, see our cable management and Power & UPS selections. Working integrators on the Senior Specialist team can spec a full rack BOM including rails, PDUs, cable managers, and seismic anchoring — datacenter-grade builds with direct manufacturer sourcing.
