Description

HPE P50727-B21 2U 8SFF x4 NVMe Drive Bay Kit

Overview

The HPE P50727-B21 is a 2U small form factor (SFF) drive bay expansion kit that adds four NVMe-interface bays to compatible HPE Gen11 rack servers. If your ProLiant deployment is running out of fast local storage capacity — for NVMe-accelerated workloads, high-throughput logging, or AI inference caching — this kit extends the drive count without requiring a new chassis. The P50727-B21 is sourced factory-new from channel-direct supply.

Compatibility

This kit is designed for the following HPE ProLiant Gen11 platforms in 2U configurations:

  • HPE ProLiant DL380 Gen11 — the workhorse 2U dual-socket server in the HPE ProLiant line; confirm your chassis has an available SFF bay cage slot before ordering.
  • HPE ProLiant DL560 Gen11 — the 2U quad-socket platform for scale-up compute; verify chassis bay availability against your current drive population.

The kit provides x4 NVMe interface connectivity per bay, matching the PCIe bandwidth requirements of modern U.2 and U.3 NVMe SSDs. Cross-generation compatibility (Gen10/Gen10 Plus) is not confirmed from available evidence — spec your server storage components against the Gen11 platform only. Before purchasing, verify the target server's server accessory bay configuration in the HPE QuickSpecs for your specific DL380 or DL560 Gen11 SKU, as chassis sub-variants may affect available cage positions.

Installation Notes

Form factor is 2U rack — this kit is not applicable to tower or blade configurations. Installation requires access to the internal drive cage area; consult the HPE ProLiant DL380/DL560 Gen11 maintenance and service guide for bay assignment, backplane cabling sequence, and any firmware prerequisites for NVMe device enumeration. UNSPSC classification 43211600 (computer storage devices and media) confirms this as a hardware storage component, not a software or licensing item.
