Description

Viking Electronics K-1900-8-EWP Stainless Steel Hot-Line Panel Phone with Enhanced Weather Protection

Overview

The K-1900-8-EWP is Viking's heavy-duty analog hot-line panel phone built for harsh outdoor and industrial access points — loading docks, parking structures, correctional facilities, and any location where a standard handset would fail under environmental abuse. The K-1900-8 EWP model adds a sealed armored handset cable (52" to 57") and up to 100% condensing humidity tolerance, meeting IP66 standards for direct rain and high-pressure washdown environments. Power draws under 6.5W via standard 802.3af PoE — no separate power supply needed, simplifying conduit runs at remote entry points. The unit stores up to 250 programmable speed-dial numbers and 250 rollover numbers, so a single keypad press reaches a guard desk, dispatch center, or call queue without operator intervention. Wiegand 26-bit input and support for up to 1,000 keyless entry codes and 1,000 card numbers make this a realistic pairing with door-access control systems at controlled perimeters. This is a POTS/analog panel phone — confirm your deployment uses a traditional telephone line or ATA adapter before ordering.

Compatibility

The K-1900-8-EWP is compatible with standard analog telephone lines and analog telephone adapters (ATAs) that present a POTS interface. Wiegand 26-bit input integrates with access control panels accepting that format. For a VoIP/SIP deployment at the same mounting footprint, Viking's K-1900-8-IP-EWP is the direct SIP 2.0 / 100BASE-Tx variant and shares the same 14-gauge 316 stainless steel faceplate and rough-in box dimensions (5.0" x 10.0" x 5.61"), allowing a direct form-factor swap. Both share the same stainless steel keypad and armored cable assembly. Explore the full Viking Electronics line for compatible entry-phone and intercom accessories.

Installation Notes

Operating temperature range is -40°F to 140°F (-40°C to 60°C) — suitable for unheated outdoor enclosures in northern climates. The rough-in box measures 5.0" x 10.0" x 5.61" deep; verify wall depth before rough-in on thin masonry or hollow-metal doors. Single RJ45 10/100 connection carries both power and data on PoE Class 2 (<6.5W) — a standard PoE switch or midspan injector will power the unit without a dedicated outlet. Gel-filled butt connectors (14 included) are provided for weatherproof field splices on the handset cable. Regulatory compliance covers CE, FCC Part 15, and Canada ICES-003 Class A. For related access control integration, confirm the Wiegand reader panel accepts 26-bit format before wiring. Review the emergency and entry phone category for compatible Viking panel accessories.
