The K-1900-8-IPEWP is a ruggedized SIP-based panel phone built for high-abuse, outdoor, and harshly conditioned entry points — loading docks, parking structures, correctional facilities, and industrial gates where standard intercom hardware fails within a season. Unlike standard IP intercom modules, the K-1900-8-IPEWP ships with Enhanced Weather Protection (EWP), rated for 100% humidity and a -40°F to 140°F (-40°C to 60°C) operating window that covers virtually every North American climate without additional enclosure work. It draws under 6.5W via standard 802.3af PoE (Class 2), so no local power run is required — just a PoE switch port and a SIP registrar. The unit stores 250 programmable speed-dial numbers, 250 rollover numbers, 1,000 keyless entry codes, and 1,000 card numbers with 26-bit Wiegand input, making it a single-device solution for access control plus voice communication at a controlled entry point.
The K-1900-8-IPEWP registers to any SIP 2.0 (RFC 3261) call server or PBX — Cisco UCM, FreePBX, 3CX, Asterisk, and similar platforms. It connects via a single RJ45 10/100Base-T port and negotiates audio using G.711u, G.711a, or G.722 codecs, so wideband audio is available on call servers that support it. The 26-bit Wiegand input integrates with access control panels accepting standard Wiegand readers — confirm your panel accepts 26-bit before wiring. For installations pairing voice intercoms with surveillance cameras, the relay control output enables door strike or gate activation without a separate controller. The EWP variant (this unit) differs from the standard K-1900-8-IP in its weatherproof construction; both share the same SIP stack and mounting footprint, so they are interchangeable from a network configuration standpoint.
Rough-in box dimensions are 5.0" x 10.0" x 5.61" (127mm x 254mm x 143mm) — deeper than the phone body (4.75" / 121mm) to accommodate the 14 gel-filled butt connectors provided for field wiring terminations. The 14-gauge 316 stainless steel faceplate uses permanent laser-etched graphics that won't degrade from cleaning chemicals or UV exposure. Handset cable runs 52" to 57" (132–145 cm), which is the primary constraint on recessed or surface-mount depth. Confirm your PoE switch port delivers 802.3af before deployment — the Class 2 budget is well within standard 802.3af (15.4W available), but verify the switch has sufficient per-port budget across the full deployment. CE, FCC Part 15, and ICES-003 Class A compliance covers US and Canadian installations without additional regulatory work.
