Description

Viking Electronics K-1900-8-IP VoIP Vandal-Resistant Stainless Steel Panel Phone

Overview

The Viking Electronics K-1900-8-IP is a SIP-based panel phone built for harsh, high-abuse entry points — parking structures, correctional facilities, industrial yards, and outdoor lobbies where a standard handset would fail within a season. The K-1900-8-IP ships with a 36-inch armored handset cable, operates on PoE Class 2 (under 6.5W) over a single Cat5e/Cat6 run, and integrates directly with any SIP 2.0-compliant VoIP system without a gateway appliance. Its 14-gauge 316 stainless steel faceplate with laser-etched graphics resists both physical attack and chemical cleaning agents — the finish won't degrade from pressure washing or repeated sanitizing. Up to 250 programmable speed-dial numbers and 1,000 keyless entry codes make this unit practical for multi-tenant access or staffed gatehouse environments. The onboard relay and 26-bit Wiegand input allow direct integration with access control panels without a separate controller, reducing wiring complexity at the door.

Compatibility

The K-1900-8-IP registers as a standard SIP 2.0 endpoint (RFC 3261) and connects to any IP PBX or hosted UCaaS platform that supports SIP trunking — Asterisk, FreePBX, 3CX, Cisco Unified Communications Manager, and comparable systems. Network interface is a single RJ45 10/100Base-T port with IEEE 802.3af PoE; no mid-span injector is required if your PoE switch budget covers Class 2 loads. The 26-bit Wiegand input pairs with Lenel, Software House, CCURE, and other Wiegand-compatible access control readers or panels. Audio codecs G.711u, G.711a, and G.722 ensure compatibility with virtually every modern IP PBX without transcoding overhead. For extreme-wet-environment installs, the K-1900-8-IP-EWP variant (52–57 inch cable, rated to 100% humidity) is the correct choice; the standard K-1900-8-IP is rated 5–95% non-condensing. Review Viking Electronics VoIP intercoms for the full panel phone family, including flush-mount and surface-box variants.

Installation Notes

Panel dimensions are 5.0″ × 10.0″ × 4.68″; the optional rough-in box adds depth to 5.53″ — verify wall depth before cutting. Mounting hardware uses 6-32 × 3/4″ flat-head screws. Fourteen gel-filled butt connectors are provided for weatherproof field splices. Operating range is -40°F to 140°F, making this viable in unheated enclosures in cold climates without a thermostatically controlled cabinet. IP66 rating means the faceplate withstands directed water jets — confirm the back-box seal is intact after wiring, as the rating applies to the assembled unit. PoE draw is under 6.5W, classifying as 802.3af Class 2; a Class 4 switch port will power it without issue, but budget accordingly if running high-port-count closets at or near their PoE budget ceiling.
