Comnet FVTRMI HDMI Transceiver
Overview
The Comnet FVTRMI is a 1-channel HDMI transceiver pair (transmitter + receiver) designed to extend uncompressed HDMI video and audio over multimode fiber. It supports up to 1080p60 resolution with 8 channels of embedded audio, making it suitable for security control rooms, broadcast facilities, and AV distribution where fiber isolation is required. The FVTRMI operates as a matched pair — one unit transmits HDMI over fiber, the other receives it on the far end. Deploy it when you need to span distances beyond standard HDMI copper limits (typically 50+ meters) without signal degradation or when electrical isolation between buildings or equipment racks is mandatory.
Compatibility
The FVTRMI connects to any HDMI 1.3a source (cameras, DVRs, NVRs, scalers, matrix switchers) on the transmit side and any HDMI display, capture card, or monitor input on the receive side. Fiber connection uses industry-standard ST multimode connectors (62.5µm or 50µm core). The transceiver does not require external software or drivers — HDMI handshake and authentication pass through transparently. It is compatible with any system architecture that uses fiber backbone infrastructure for AV extension.
Installation Notes
Mount the transmitter and receiver units using the included rack-mount ears or surface-mount brackets, depending on your cabinet or wall installation. Ensure multimode fiber runs between units support the appropriate wavelength (typically 1310nm or 1550nm — verify against your fiber plant specifications). HDMI input on the transmitter must supply standard HDMI v1.3a signaling; the transceiver does not amplify or re-equalize the source. Keep fiber tight-radius bends above 1.5 inches to avoid signal loss. For best performance in long-distance runs, inspect fiber connectors for dirt and ensure proper polishing.
