The FDX4DS1B is a four-channel RS232/422/485 data transceiver that extends serial control and telemetry over a single strand of single-mode optical fiber. Deploy this when you need to run legacy serial equipment (PTZ camera controllers, access panels, gate operators, or alarm sensors) across long distances—up to 69 km—without worrying about ground loops, lightning strikes, or EMI interference. Each of the four channels runs independently, so you can mix protocols (say, one RS485 for camera control, one RS232 for a gate opener, two more for sensor feeds) on a single fiber pair. Plug-and-play design means no optical adjustments required on site.
The FDX4DS1B pairs with any legacy serial device: PTZ controllers using RS485 command protocols, access control panels with RS232 credentials, traffic signal equipment, SCADA sensors, and industrial alarm systems. It works in both point-to-point and extended-distance deployments where fiber runs exist or need to be installed. Supports network and fiber infrastructure in surveillance, traffic management, and perimeter control installations. The unit is interchangeable between stand-alone wall-mount and rack configurations (DIN-rail mounting available with separate adaptor).
Requires 8–15 VDC power input. Bi-directional data runs up to 250 Kbps per channel; if any channel needs higher speeds, this is not the right fit. Single-mode fiber only—multimode will cause signal loss. Tested for NEMA TS-1/TS-2 compliance and Caltrans traffic signal requirements, meaning it handles voltage transients on all power and signal lines without damage. Operating temperature span is -40°C to +75°C; storage extends to -85°C. Humidity tolerance is 0–95% non-condensing, but the unit includes protection against condensation per spec. Optical connectors are FC or ST (specify at order). Maximum optical loss budget is 23 dB, which governs fiber run quality and splice counts.
