Description

Comnet FDC24NLSFP 24-Channel Duplex Contact Closure Transceiver

Overview

The FDC24NLSFP is a 24-channel duplex contact closure transceiver that converts discrete relay signals into long-distance fiber or copper transmission. It solves the integration problem when traffic management systems, barrier controls, gate operators, or access control readers need to communicate status and command signals across distances where copper runs become impractical—fiber immunity to EMI makes it the standard choice for highway corridors, parking structures, and industrial perimeters where high-voltage switching equipment sits nearby.

The unit supports transmission over a single SFP optical port or standard 4-wire RS-422 copper circuit, giving you flexibility in existing infrastructure. Automatic resettable solid-state current limiting protects downstream equipment without nuisance relay drops. Individual LED status indicators on each channel let you diagnose signal presence at a glance during commissioning or troubleshooting.

Compatibility

The FDC24NLSFP interfaces with any control device outputting volt-free relay contacts or expecting relay-closure inputs—traffic signal controllers (NEMA TS-1/TS-2 and Caltrans-specified systems), gate motors, CCTV lens drivers, PTZ camera controls, access control door strikes, and burglar alarm panels. Cascade up to 12 units on a single fiber or copper run, multiplying channel count to 288 independent duplex contacts. Works with standard SFP transceiver modules (sourced separately to fit your network's optical wavelength) or any RS-422 data link already in your surveillance or access control backbone.

Installation Notes

Mount on wall, DIN rail, or 19-inch rack. Verify incoming voltage (unit specifications not provided in evidence—confirm with manufacturer datasheet before powering). Each contact closure supports both input and output on the same pair (duplex operation), reducing wiring runs. Solid-state current limiting eliminates relay chatter and permits safe paralleling of contact pairs if needed for redundancy. Ensure SFP module and fiber patch panel are rated for the same wavelength and distance (multimode 850nm for short runs, single-mode 1310nm or 1550nm for longer spans).
