The Viking Electronics E-30-EWP-CE is a vandal-resistant, handsfree speaker phone and autodialer built for entry-point deployments where the unit faces direct exposure to rain, condensation, or temperature swings. The EWP designation (Enhanced Weather Protection) means the E-30-EWP-CE ships with foam rubber gaskets, sealed connections, gel-filled butt connectors, and urethane or thermal-plastic potted circuit boards — not just a splash-resistant enclosure, but a fully sealed assembly designed to keep moisture out of the electronics long-term. The 14-gauge louvered stainless steel faceplate handles physical abuse from public-facing or semi-supervised access points. Flush mount installs via the included rough-in box; surface mount requires the optional VE-5x5 adapter. The unit carries a CE Mark for compliance with European conformity requirements. Signal detection operates down to -22 dBm, so it will function reliably on long analog loop runs or with weaker line signals. The built-in autodialer supports up to 5 numbers with a rollover function — if the first number doesn't answer, the unit advances to the next programmed destination automatically. Ringback cadence detection spans 300–2000 Hz, accommodating a wide range of PBX and PSTN ring patterns. Busy detection handles both standard cadence (450–550ms ON/OFF) and fast busy (150–300ms ON/OFF), preventing the unit from hanging on a failed call attempt.
The E-30-EWP-CE is compatible with the Viking E-30 and E-30-EWP product family. It operates over standard analog POTS lines and is compatible with the Viking Electronics 1600A Series entry phone systems. Works with any analog entry phone infrastructure that delivers standard ring voltage (minimum 30VAC RMS at 20Hz, 25VAC RMS at 30Hz). Integrates into commercial PBX environments where the extension supports a standard analog FXS port. Not designed for VoIP SIP endpoints — for IP-based deployments, reference the E-10/20/30/32-IP series instead. The VE-5x5 surface-mount adapter is sold separately and is required for any installation where a flush rough-in box cannot be used.
Flush-mount installations use the included rough-in box; plan the rough opening to match Viking's published template. Surface-mount deployments require the optional VE-5x5 housing — verify availability before scheduling the installation. EWP sealing requires that field wiring connections maintain the factory gel-fill integrity; disturbing sealed connections without gel-splice replacements will compromise weather protection. The unit is rated for outdoor installations exposed to precipitation and condensation — confirm the mounting surface provides adequate drainage and does not allow standing water to pool against the faceplate. Minimum ring voltage requirements (30VAC RMS at 20Hz) must be confirmed at the terminal before commissioning; insufficient ring voltage will prevent call detection. Pair with a access control system or analog network infrastructure as appropriate for the site's door-release integration.
