Geovision 84-APOE162-001U GV-APOE1612 PoE+ Managed Switch
Overview
The Geovision 84-APOE162-001U (GV-APOE1612) is a 16-port 10/100/1000BaseT managed PoE+ switch purpose-built for IP surveillance deployments. It consolidates power delivery and network connectivity into a single managed device, eliminating separate power supplies to cameras and field equipment. The 250W PoE budget supports up to 16 powered devices simultaneously—sufficient for mid-scale camera systems, access points, and network equipment across warehouse, retail, or campus environments. Four SFP uplink ports and two combo ports provide backbone flexibility for fiber or additional copper uplinks to a core switch or NVR cluster.
Compatibility
The 84-APOE162-001U integrates with any standard ONVIF-compliant IP camera or powered network device drawing IEEE 802.3af (13W max) or 802.3at (30W max) power. Works seamlessly with Geovision GV-series IP cameras, access control readers, wireless access points, and third-party surveillance devices that support PoE+ delivery. Management access via web interface allows integration into existing VMS architectures (Milestone, Axis Camera Station, or generic ONVIF-based systems). The switch is designed for professional installations requiring managed (non-dumb) switching, VLAN support, and per-port monitoring.
Installation Notes
Mount in a 19-inch equipment rack or wall-mounted cabinet within a protected environment (indoor, climate-controlled). Connect uplink to core network via fiber (SFP transceiver modules sold separately; Geovision offers GV-LC, GV-LC10, GV-LC V2, and GV-LC10 V2 options ranging 220m to 20km depending on wavelength). Run standard Cat5e/Cat6 cabling to each powered device; the switch negotiates power and speed automatically per IEEE 802.3af/at. Reserve adequate cooling—managed switches generate modest heat under full load. No special tools required beyond standard RJ-45 crimpers and a small Phillips screwdriver for fiber module installation.
