The Geovision GV-APOE1612-84 is a 16-port gigabit PoE+ switch built for distributed IP camera networks that need centralized power delivery and managed switching in a single rack-mount chassis. This eliminates separate power infrastructure at camera locations — all 16 ports deliver IEEE 802.3af/at power (up to 30W per port on PoE+ ports) with a total budget of 250W, meaning you can run a medium to large surveillance deployment without dedicated power supplies or auxiliary wiring at each endpoint. The GV-APOE1612-84 is the right fit when you're scaling beyond a few cameras and need to consolidate power and data traffic through managed switching logic.
The GV-APOE1612-84 works with any PoE+ compliant IP camera, encoder, wireless access point, or powered device that conforms to IEEE 802.3af/at standards. It is particularly suited to Geovision IP camera systems and integrates into surveillance networks running ONVIF-capable devices. The switch supports up to 16 GV-IP cameras directly, but is compatible with any vendor's PoE+ endpoints as long as they meet the 802.3af/at spec. For long cable runs — up to 250 meters (820 feet) at 10 Mbps — the switch maintains power delivery without additional injectors, a key advantage for warehouse, retail, or campus deployments where cameras are distant from the network core.
The GV-APOE1612-84 mounts in a standard 19-inch equipment rack and draws 30W from a wall outlet during operation (separate AC power required). Operating temperature range is 0°C to 40°C (32°F to 104°F); do not install in unheated outdoor enclosures. Dimensions are 44 x 440 x 207 mm (1.73" x 17.32" x 8.14"), weighing 2.56 kg (5.64 lbs). All 16 ports use RJ-45 connectors; the switch also provides 4 SFP uplink ports and 2 combo uplinks for backbone redundancy or higher-speed interconnects. Managed features include VLAN, QoS, RSTP, and port security — configure via web interface or ONVIF Discover for zero-touch provisioning in compatible environments.
