Geovision GV-IO-84 I/O Relay Box Controller
The Geovision GV-IO-84 is a dedicated input/output (I/O) relay box designed to bridge digital sensors, alarm contacts, and external control devices with Geovision surveillance systems. With 16 dry-contact inputs and 16 relay outputs, it converts sensor events (motion, intrusion, environmental triggers) into camera actions or external device commands—critical for deployments requiring coordinated PTZ positioning, alarm notifications, or access control integration.
Overview
The GV-IO-84 operates as a standalone controller via USB connection to a PC or through optional Ethernet (10/100 Mbps RJ-45) when paired with an Ethernet module. Its compact box form factor (7.09 x 1.06 x 7.2 inches) fits equipment racks, control rooms, or wall-mounted installations in SOCs and network equipment rooms. The device supports up to 16 simultaneous software connections for multi-user control, enabling distributed operators to trigger outputs across a single box or cascade up to 9 GV-IO units for larger facilities. Firmware version 2.00 and later unlocks mobile management via the GV-IoT app, shifting routine I/O control off the PC and onto smartphones or tablets.
Compatibility
The GV-IO-84 integrates directly with Geovision DVR, NVR, and VMS platforms (GV-DVR/NVR/VMS, GV-ASManager, GV-Control Center, GV-Center V2). It accepts dry-contact closure inputs from third-party motion sensors, intrusion detection systems, environmental monitors, and access control readers. Relay outputs drive external devices including alarm sounders, door strikers, lighting relays, and IP PTZ camera pan-tilt commands when used alongside Geovision IP camera systems. The box supports event-driven workflows: input trigger → output activation for snapshot capture, video recording initiation, or email alert dispatch. Daisy-chaining up to 9 units (GV-IO Box 4, 8, or 16 variants) scales I/O capacity for multi-site or multi-floor deployments without adding separate controllers at each location.
Installation Notes
USB connection delivers power and command signals directly from the PC (max. 30V DC, 3A output capacity). Ethernet variants require firmware V2.00+ for mobile app functionality and network-based control independent of a hardwired PC. Dry-contact inputs accept closure signals; relay outputs support both DC and AC voltage switching, eliminating the need for external relays on common low-voltage alarm and lighting circuits. Indoor climate-controlled deployment is mandatory—no environmental sealing data is published, so outdoor or wet-environment mounting is not supported.
