Geovision GV-NET RS-485/RS-232 I/O Adapter
Overview
The Geovision GV-NET is a compact I/O card that bridges analog control signals into Geovision IP surveillance systems. It converts RS-485 and RS-232 serial protocols to USB, providing 4 digital inputs and 4 relay outputs — the interface layer you need when legacy PTZ controllers, access relays, or analog alarm sensors must talk to a modern Geovision NVR or management platform. Compact form factor (99 x 90 mm) fits inside DVR/NVR enclosures or runs standalone in I/O Box mode.
Compatibility
Works with Geovision GV-Series DVRs and NVRs equipped with a 20-pin GV-NET/IO port. Requires GV-System software version 8.2 or later (8.5.7.0 or later if USB device enumerates as XR21B1411 UART in Windows Device Manager). Supports chaining up to 4 GV-NET cards together when configured in I/O Box Mode — useful for expanding relay and input capacity across a larger installation. Can operate in two modes: NET/IO Card Mode (integrated into DVR/NVR) or standalone I/O Box Mode (independent device for remote I/O management).
Installation Notes
Operating temperature range 0°C to 50°C (32°F to 122°F) — keep away from HVAC returns and direct heat sources in confined enclosures. Tightly screw the card to the PC case or mounting surface to minimize electrical noise in relay circuits, especially critical if controlling solenoid door locks or alarm outputs nearby. USB driver installation varies by internal chipset: Prolific USB-to-Serial or XR21B1411 UART. Verify device name in Windows Device Manager and ensure compatible GV-System version is running before deployment. 4-pin mini power cable is included; verify 30V DC output supply availability if powering relay outputs externally.
