Description

Geovision GV-NET-55 RS-485/RS-232 Interface Card

Overview

The Geovision GV-NET-55 is an RS-485/RS-232 interface converter designed to connect serial PTZ domes and other RS-485 devices to Geovision surveillance systems via USB or legacy COM ports. Install this card when you need to add pan-tilt-zoom camera control to a GV system without dedicated serial infrastructure on the host PC. The GV-NET-55 bridges the gap between legacy RS-485 PTZ devices and modern PC architectures by providing bidirectional protocol conversion—critical if your installation relies on Geovision software versions 8.2 or later.

Compatibility

The GV-NET-55 works with Geovision GV-Video Capture Cards and Geovision surveillance systems running GV-System 8.2 or above. If your system reports the card as a Prolific USB-to-Serial Comm Port in Windows Device Manager, version 8.2+ is required. If it reports as XR21B1411 USB UART, version 8.5.7.0 or above is required. The card does not require a dedicated connection to the video capture card—it operates independently via USB or RS-232 to handle PTZ command flow separate from video streaming.

Installation Notes

Mount the GV-NET-55 internally near your host PC motherboard. The 4-pin internal USB cable connects to an available USB header on the motherboard; the RJ-11 to USB external cable routes RS-485 PTZ device connections to a standard PC USB port. Operating temperature range is 0°C to 50°C (32°F to 122°F)—keep the card in climate-controlled server environments. Install the appropriate USB driver before connecting; Windows Device Manager will identify the chipset type, which determines your GV-System version requirement. Dimensions are 99 × 90 mm (3.90 × 3.54 in).
