Geovision GV-900 8-Channel DVI PCI Express Card
Overview
The Geovision GV-900 is an 8-channel DVI PCI Express capture card designed to digitize and ingest video from up to eight DVI sources directly into a PC-based surveillance system. This is the right choice when you're building a control room or monitoring station that needs to blend analog/DVI camera feeds with IP infrastructure under unified management — the GV-900 sits inside the host machine and feeds video directly into Geovision GV-Control Center or compatible VMS platforms.
Compatibility
The GV-900 integrates with Geovision surveillance software ecosystems, particularly GV-Control Center, which supports live monitoring of up to 900 camera channels, remote playback, I/O management, and video analytics. The card works with Windows 10, Windows 11, Windows Server 2016, Server 2019, and Server 2022 (64-bit). Host system requirements: Intel Core i7 2600K (3.4 GHz) or equivalent, 16 GB dual-channel RAM minimum. The card accepts DVI video input on all eight channels and outputs compressed video via H.265, H.264, or MJPEG codecs — choose H.265 for storage efficiency on long-term retention systems (roughly 50% file-size reduction vs. H.264 at equivalent quality), or H.264/MJPEG for broad third-party VMS compatibility.
Installation Notes
Install the GV-900 into an available PCI Express x16 slot (or x8 with reduced performance). The card requires adequate system cooling due to sustained video processing load — ensure case airflow supports continuous multi-channel capture. Use a power supply rated for the host system load plus capture overhead; a typical 8-channel setup draws additional 40–60W during peak recording. Cable DVI sources directly to the card's DVI connectors; use DVI-to-composite/S-Video adapters if legacy sources are in use, though this introduces format conversion overhead. Install Geovision drivers and GV-Control Center software before deploying cameras to the VMS — firmware updates may be needed to ensure codec compatibility with your installed camera models.
