ACTi ENR-140 16-Channel 4-Bay Desktop NVR
Overview
The ENR-140 is a 16-channel desktop NVR rated for 48Mbps aggregate throughput — designed for small-to-medium deployments where you need multi-camera recording without a rack-mount footprint. This unit is a storage chassis: it accepts up to four SATA hard drives (disks sold separately) and handles simultaneous streams from 16 IP cameras over your network. The 48Mbps bandwidth ceiling means you can record multiple 2MP or 3MP streams at reasonable frame rates, or mix resolutions depending on which cameras are deployed. Remote access is built in, so authorized users can pull playback and live feeds from the field without direct LAN contact to the recorder.
Compatibility
The ENR-140 works with any ONVIF-compliant IP camera — no vendor lock-in. This includes ACTi's own camera line, as well as third-party brands (Axis, Hikvision, Uniview, Dahua, and others) that publish ONVIF Profile S or Profile G support. Disk compatibility: standard 3.5-inch SATA drives rated for surveillance duty (7200 RPM) are recommended; check the NVR's firmware documentation for any drive qualification lists specific to your firmware version. Network requirement: gigabit Ethernet connection to your LAN; the 48Mbps throughput spec assumes adequate uplink bandwidth. DHCP is supported for IP assignment, or you can statically configure the recorder.
Installation Notes
Desktop placement means this is not a rack unit — position it on a shelf or cabinet inside a climate-controlled comms closet. Ensure adequate ventilation around the chassis to keep hard drives within operating temperature. Power requirement: standard 100–240V AC input (confirm exact wattage in the product manual). No PoE capability on this unit — cameras must be powered separately, either via PoE injectors, PoE switches, or dedicated power supplies. During initial setup, assign a static IP or note the DHCP-assigned address for remote management. Backup drives: plan a hot-swap or scheduled rotation strategy if you need archival retention beyond the real-time storage window.
