ATEN VC060 DVI EDID Emulator
Overview
The ATEN VC060 is a DVI EDID emulator that eliminates the blank-screen and resolution-drop failures caused by missing or misread EDID data during display switching. When a DVI source loses its EDID handshake — switching matrices, KVM systems, signal extenders, or hot-plug events during presentations — the VC060 sits inline and holds a stable, valid EDID so the source never loses its display profile. It supports up to WUXGA (1920 x 1200) at a 2.25 Gbps data rate, covering every standard DVI-D resolution in commercial AV and video production environments.
Three EDID modes give you control over what the source sees: Default presents a built-in standard EDID profile suitable for most displays; Learn captures and stores the real EDID from a connected display, so the source always negotiates the correct native resolution even after the display is disconnected; Customized lets you define a precise EDID profile using the included EDID Wizard software (Windows), which is the right approach when driving non-standard resolutions or multi-display arrays that require a specific timing profile. Without this flexibility, sources often fall back to 640x480 or refuse to output at all when the downstream display is momentarily unavailable.
Compatibility
The VC060 works with any DVI-D source and display operating within the WUXGA (1920 x 1200) ceiling and 2.25 Gbps bandwidth envelope. It integrates directly with ATEN DVI KVM switches, DVI matrix switches, and DVI signal extenders where EDID dropout is a known issue. The EDID Wizard configuration utility runs on Windows and supports VC060 firmware v1.1.101 (released 2018-06-15); EDID Wizard software version v1.0.069 is the current companion release. Impedance is rated at 100 Ω, matching standard DVI cable plant.
Installation Notes
Operating humidity tolerance is 0–80% RH non-condensing — suitable for typical indoor rack and AV-rack environments but not uncontrolled or high-moisture spaces. The VC060 draws power via a single DC jack; verify your installation provides the appropriate DC supply. Firmware and EDID Wizard software are field-upgradeable, which matters when adding non-standard display profiles to an existing install without replacing hardware. Sold in carton quantities of 5 — relevant for integrators deploying across multiple switching nodes in the same facility.
