Overview

The CNFE2CL2MC is a dual-channel 10/100 Mbps media converter that extends Ethernet connectivity over legacy coaxial cable or twisted-pair wiring — solving the problem of retrofitting IP cameras and network devices into existing surveillance infrastructure without tearing out cable runs. This is the right fit when you're adding modern IP cameras to buildings already wired with coax (typical in older security systems) or when you need to extend camera runs beyond standard 100m Ethernet distances.

Compatibility

Works with any IP camera, NVR, switch, or network device that outputs standard 10/100 Mbps Ethernet (RJ-45). The two independent channels mean you can run two separate camera feeds or network circuits simultaneously over a single coax or twisted-pair backbone. Compatible with both RG-59 and RG-6 coaxial cable, and standard Cat5/Cat5e twisted-pair cable.

Installation Notes

Operating voltage range of 8–27 VDC allows flexible power sourcing — standard 12 VDC supplies work reliably. Power consumption is 22W total; plan accordingly if powering from a PoE switch or limited supply. DIN-rail mounting (adaptor required) fits standard 35mm rail in equipment racks or panel enclosures. Wide operating temperature range (-40°C to +75°C) and MTBF >100,000 hours make this suitable for unheated shelters, outdoor cable enclosures, and long-term continuous operation. Over coaxial cable, expect 76 Mbps throughput at 1500 feet — adequate for single-camera streams but not for multi-camera aggregation over long distances. Over twisted pair at extended distances (10,000 ft), throughput drops to 1 Mbps, limiting use to low-bandwidth signaling or serial data; standard Ethernet distance (100m) on twisted pair delivers full 10/100 Mbps performance.
