Overview

The DMP ES502 is a vented metal enclosure designed to house plug-in transformers and surge protectors in control panel and access control system installations. Its 4.25" × 5.625" × 3.75" footprint fits standard DMP panel configurations where transformer isolation and physical protection are required. The hinged metal cover provides quick access for maintenance while keeping transformer and power conditioning hardware protected from dust, accidental contact, and mechanical damage—a real concern in crowded equipment racks or wall-mounted panels.

The ES502 is designed for use with transformers rated 20 VA and above and compatible plug-in surge protectors. Installation Notes

The enclosure is vented to dissipate heat from transformers above 20 VA—do not obstruct vents or seal this enclosure, as thermal buildup can degrade transformer lifespan. The hinged cover design allows one-handed transformer insertion and removal. Mount the enclosure to vertical or horizontal panel surfaces using the mounting provisions on the base. Ensure adequate airflow around the unit, particularly in wall-mounted or enclosed cabinet scenarios. Do not use the ES502 for transformers under 20 VA where heat dissipation is minimal; a smaller sealed enclosure may be more appropriate.
