DMP 324 100VA Wire-In Transformer
Overview
The DMP 324 is a 16VAC, 100VA wire-in transformer designed for access control and security panel installations where multi-battery charging is required. This unit solves a specific power-capacity problem: when you're configuring an XR150 or XR550 control panel to support four or more backup batteries, the panel's internal power stage isn't sufficient. The 324 steps down mains voltage and delivers the sustained current needed for parallel battery charging without thermal stress or nuisance shutdowns. Mounted in an enclosure with UL and NFPA compliance built in, it integrates directly into your facility's electrical distribution — no external power supply, no adapter clutter.
Compatibility
The DMP 324 is designed for use with DMP XR-series panels — specifically the XR150 and XR550 — and is compatible with XT75 control units. Wire-in transformer design means it connects to your building's mains voltage supply (typically 120VAC, 60Hz in North America, 220–240VAC in other regions — confirm your local code with your installer). If you're running fewer than four batteries on your panel, the internal power circuitry is usually sufficient; the 324 becomes necessary only when you exceed that threshold and need the extra 100VA headroom.
Installation Notes
Wire-in installation requires a licensed electrician and compliance with local electrical code. The transformer must be mounted in an accessible enclosure (included) with adequate ventilation. Built-in PTC (positive temperature coefficient) protection prevents overcurrent damage — a passive safety feature that resets automatically once thermal stress clears. Confirm voltage rating and wiring gauge with your panel documentation before commencing installation. No special tools beyond standard electrical wiring supplies are needed.
