Description

Comnet FVT1031M1 Digitally Encoded Video Transmitter / Data Transceiver

Overview

The FVT1031M1 is a single-fiber video transmitter designed to extend analog camera feeds over extended distances where running copper coax becomes impractical or cost-prohibitive. It encodes composite video and simultaneous RS422 data onto a single 1310/1550 nm optical fiber via ST connector, reaching 3 km with a 16 dB loss budget. This unit solves the distance and conduit-congestion problem in stadium, campus, industrial facility, and transportation hub deployments where camera-to-NVR runs exceed standard coax limits.

Compatibility

The FVT1031M1 works with any system capable of sourcing standard composite video (NTSC/PAL) and RS422 PTZ or control serial data. Typical pairs: Comnet fiber video receiver units (FVR-series matching single-fiber or dual-fiber configurations), legacy analog camera plants feeding fiber-extended backbone networks, and hybrid surveillance systems bridging older analog infrastructure with modern IP core. Confirm the receiver model supports 1310/1550 nm wavelength matching and ST connector type before deployment.

Installation Notes

Input voltage 8–15 VDC at 2W consumption — typically sourced from a local UPS or power distribution module at the transmitter cabinet. Video signal acceptance: composite signals within standard bandwidth (5 Hz–6.5 MHz). RS422 data rate up to 250 kbps NRZ. Operating temperature range −40°C to +75°C supports outdoor equipment cabinets and unheated utility enclosures; verify receiving equipment is rated for the same range if co-located. Fiber runs beyond 3 km require optical repeaters or higher-grade loss-budget components. ST connector cleanliness is critical — use dust caps when not mated. MTBF >100,000 hours assumes proper power conditioning and thermal management within spec.
