Description

Comnet FVTRDS1A Bidirectional Digital Video Transmitter

Overview

The FVTRDS1A is a bidirectional 10-bit digital video transmitter and sync/data transceiver designed to extend video surveillance signals over single-mode fiber to distances of 30 miles (48 km). This module converts baseband video and embedded serial data (RS232, RS422, RS485) into a digital format suitable for long-distance fiber transmission without the signal degradation or noise accumulation that copper cable introduces over extended runs. Deploy this where copper cabling is impractical—large industrial sites, multi-building campuses, or installations requiring electrical isolation between head-end and remote equipment.

Compatibility

The FVTRDS1A works with any standard baseband video source (analog camera output, DVR/NVR video feed, matrix switcher output) and accepts parallel data control lines. Pair it with a complementary Comnet fiber receiver at the far end to complete the bidirectional link. The module supports both stand-alone enclosure mounting and card-cage installation, making it suitable for integration into existing Comnet fiber transmission systems or retrofit into legacy surveillance infrastructure where fiber backbone already exists.

Installation Notes

Single-mode fiber connectors (type not specified in evidence) terminate at the rear; standard video input and serial control connectors on the front or side panel. Operating temperature range follows NEMA TS-1/TS-2 specifications, suitable for indoor equipment racks or outdoor enclosures with passive thermal management. Bi-color LED indicators (red/green) provide real-time link status—green indicates active transmission, red signals a fault condition. Verify fiber run length and connector type compatibility with your receiver module before installation; mismatched fiber grades degrade signal and limit distance.
