Overview
The Comelit UT9178 is a surface-mounted wall housing engineered for Comelit 8 Ultra entrance panel systems. This is the right choice when you need to mount eight intercom modules on a finished wall surface without cutting into drywall or masonry. The UT9178 holds two rows of four modules side by side, projecting just 35 mm from the wall — shallow enough to clear baseboards and trim in tight corridors. The aluminum frame is cataphoresis-treated to resist corrosion and UV degradation, a meaningful detail in humid or sun-exposed lobbies and building entries. Module-to-module connection cables are included; no additional inter-module wiring harnesses to source separately.
Compatibility
The UT9178 integrates exclusively with the Comelit 8 Ultra modular intercom system. Each Ultra module supports PoE+ (802.3at) power input, allowing you to run a single PoE+ switch to the housing and supply all eight modules without separate power supplies at the installation point. The housing is a passive mechanical and electrical frame — it does not add latency, processing, or protocol translation. It works within Comelit's unified architecture for residential and commercial multi-unit entry systems.
Installation Notes
The UT9178 mounts to vertical wall surfaces using a metal support bracket that secures modules without screws — modules slot into the frame and stay fixed by the support geometry. Overall dimensions are 221 mm wide × 380 mm tall × 35 mm deep. Ensure the wall surface is flat and plumb; any significant bow will prevent modules from seating evenly. The included inter-module cables connect adjacent units; you still need to run a single PoE+ drop from your switch to the housing and provide a data connection (typically Cat6 or better to the first module). No special tools are required beyond a level and a drill for wall anchors if mounting on hollow-core walls.
