Comelit 1415 Simplebus Top Riser/User Module
Overview
The Comelit 1415 is a branch unit for Simplebus 2 distributed video systems that splits a single bus line into up to 4 independent outputs, each with its own unit address. Each output can then cascade up to 3 internal units downstream — so a single 1415 can feed 12 addressable endpoints across four branches. The unit integrates line protection that isolates each branch in the event of power surges or short circuits, protecting the rest of the system from fault propagation. Since it draws power directly from the 2-wire bus, no external power supply is needed — a significant simplification in residential and small commercial door entry or video distribution installations.
Compatibility
The 1415 is designed for Comelit Simplebus 2 systems only. It connects to a Simplebus 2 mixer (Comelit part 4888 or 4888C) and can have up to 100 user devices connected across all branches served by that mixer. The four outputs of the 1415 support cascading of internal Simplebus 2 units — each branch output supports up to 3 cascaded internal units. Verify your mixer and system generation before installation, as Simplebus 2 components are not backward-compatible with earlier Simplebus generations.
Installation Notes
The 1415 mounts as a branch unit on the main Simplebus 2 riser. Wiring follows standard 2-wire bus topology — no additional power cabling is required since the unit derives all power from the bus itself. Each of the four outputs must be assigned a unique address within the Simplebus 2 system configuration. Mount the unit in an accessible location on the riser to allow for future branch expansion or troubleshooting without disturbing the main line. The integrated surge protection is passive and requires no configuration.
