Camden CX-PS13V3 Variable Output Linear Power Supply
The Camden CX-PS13V3 is a compact linear power supply designed for electric strikes, door locks, access control readers, and other 24VDC security devices. It delivers selectable or continuously adjustable voltage (2–24VDC) at up to 1 Amp output, with integrated battery charging and automatic failover capability — a practical fit for retrofit access control installations where UL/ULC certification is not required.
Overview
This unit supplies regulated DC power from an external transformer input (6–24VAC depending on output voltage selected). The CX-PS13V3 charges a connected GELL CELL battery via 12" pre-terminated leads and automatically switches to battery power on AC failure. Output protection is provided by a resettable PPTC fuse, and ripple is held below 40mV — low enough to avoid nuisance lockouts on sensitive strike solenoids. Efficiency runs 85% at 12VDC and 90% at 24VDC, minimizing heat dissipation in tight mounting spaces. The unit mounts directly to enclosure walls or door frames using supplied adhesive tape.
Compatibility
The CX-PS13V3 works with any 24VDC access control device: magnetic locks, electric strikes, card readers, door position sensors, and credential processors that operate on standard DC supply. Output voltage is selectable via internal jumpers (6, 9, 12, 13.8, 18, or 24VDC fixed settings) or continuously adjustable via a potentiometer if the ADJ position is selected. This flexibility accommodates older 12VDC legacy readers alongside modern 24VDC systems in the same panel. For mag locks requiring UL/ULC listing, consult the CX-PS10UL, CX-PS30UL, or CX-PS60UL models instead.
Installation Notes
An external step-down transformer is required — do not connect directly to 120VAC mains. Transformer selection is critical: 6VDC output requires 6–9VAC input (20VA minimum); 12VDC requires 12–14VAC (30VA); 24VDC requires 24–26VAC (40VA). Wire the transformer secondary to the CX-PS13V3 input terminals, set the voltage jumper or potentiometer for your target output, connect the battery leads to a GELL CELL (not included), and route the regulated output to your access control load. Output capacity is 800mA for the load, plus 200mA charging current to the battery simultaneously.
