Overview

The Axis Q2112-E thermal box camera (model 02608-001) is a fixed thermal imager built for perimeter security, industrial process monitoring, and temperature-based threat detection. Unlike visible-light cameras, the Q2112-E detects heat signatures across darkness, fog, and obscured environments—critical for border surveillance, critical infrastructure protection, and wildfire detection. The VGA thermal sensor (640×480 with flexible scaling down to 384×288) delivers precise thermal discrimination without the cost or complexity of cooled thermal sensors. PoE power eliminates the need for separate electrical runs to the camera location.

Compatibility

The Q2112-E mounts as a box form factor via wall, ceiling, or PT-mount head (PT head sold separately). It integrates with ONVIF-compatible VMS platforms including AXIS Camera Station and Milestone. Network integration is standard IP-based with cybersecurity features (signed firmware, secure boot, 802.1X support) matching enterprise surveillance deployments. No proprietary software or licensing required for basic operation.

Installation Notes

Box form factor allows flexible mounting in exposed or recessed locations. Pendant mounting is supported (probe dependent per installation context). IP66/IP67 rating means dust-sealed and submersion-capable—suitable for outdoor coastal, industrial, or wet-process environments. IK10 impact resistance handles vibration-heavy installations (refineries, substations). Power delivery via PoE eliminates 24VAC or 120VAC runs; verify your switch or injector supports the camera's power draw before deployment. Multiple thermal lens options are available at order time and are non-interchangeable—confirm thermal FOV and focus distance requirements with your integrator before purchasing.
