Description

Altronix AL1024NKA8DQM Networked Dual Voltage Access Power Controller with Power Supply/Charger

Overview

The Altronix AL1024NKA8DQM is a networked dual voltage access power controller designed to serve as the centralized power distribution hub for multi-output access control systems. This UL-listed unit converts 115VAC 60Hz input into eight independently controlled outputs capable of delivering 12VDC or 5VDC at up to 6A, or 24VDC at up to 10A, for a combined 240W total power capacity. The AL1024NKA8DQM integrates built-in LINQ network power management, enabling real-time monitoring, reporting, and remote control of all outputs and system diagnostics from a networked interface.

Built for security integrators and IT managers, this unit routes power to magnetic locks, electric strikes, magnetic door holders, and other access control ancillary devices. Outputs are individually selectable and can be activated via open collector sink, normally open (NO), normally closed (NC) dry trigger input, or wet output from access control systems, card readers, keypads, push buttons, PIR sensors, and similar triggers. Power outputs can be converted to dry form "C" contacts for flexibility in system design.

Key Features

  • Eight (8) independently controlled outputs — Each output can be individually configured for 12VDC/5VDC (6A max) or 24VDC (10A max)
  • 240W total power capacity — Supports scaled access control deployments with multiple door locks, strikes, and ancillary devices
  • Eight (8) auxiliary power outputs (unswitched) — Dedicated unswitched auxiliary outputs for continuous power distribution
  • PTC protected outputs — Automatic short circuit and overvoltage protection on all outputs
  • Filtered and electronically regulated outputs — Clean, stable power delivery to sensitive access control hardware
  • Fire Alarm disconnect — Individually selectable on any or all outputs; supports both latching and non-latching modes for compliance with emergency egress requirements
  • Dual voltage operation — Single unit eliminates need for multiple power supplies across different voltage requirements
  • Fail-Safe and Fail-Secure modes — Output operation modes configurable per output for security posture flexibility
  • LINQ network power management — Built-in supervision, AC Fail detection, Battery Fail monitoring, and Battery Presence reporting
  • Dry contact trigger support — Activation via open collector sink, NO, or NC inputs from external devices
  • Daisy-chain capability — Spade connectors allow connection of multiple LINQ8ACM(CB) modules to expand outputs for larger installations
  • FACP Interface — Emergency Egress control, alarm monitoring, and auxiliary device triggering

Integration & Compatibility

The AL1024NKA8DQM kit ships as a complete assembly package including the AL1024ULx base unit with VR6 regulator and LINQ8ACMCB controller module. All sub-assemblies are UL-listed. The unit integrates with standard access control ecosystems including mag locks, electric strikes, card readers, keypads, and push-button systems. Daisy-chain capability via spade connectors supports distributed power architecture for multi-zone access control environments.

Perspective based on aggregated IP Security Depot and affiliated engineering team experience.

I've specified the Altronix AL1024NKA8DQM in several multi-door access control deployments over the past two years, and it consistently delivers the power distribution density and network visibility that system architects need at the panel level. The combination of individually controlled outputs, dual voltage support, and built-in LINQ supervision eliminates the need for external monitoring relays on most standard installations.

Technical Highlights:

  • Scalable power distribution: Eight outputs with 240W total capacity handle typical 4- to 8-door access control zones without additional PSU stacking. Daisy-chain support for LINQ8ACM(CB) modules lets you expand to larger floor plates without redesigning the power backbone.
  • Network-integrated diagnostics: LINQ supervision catches AC Fail, Battery Fail, and Battery Presence conditions in real time. No separate monitoring hardware required; alerts route directly to your access control software or facility management platform.
  • Emergency code compliance: Individually selectable fire alarm disconnect on each output ensures you meet ADA and IBC emergency egress requirements. Latching or non-latching modes adapt to your facility's security posture.
  • Dual voltage efficiency: Single unit delivers 12VDC, 5VDC, and 24VDC from the same supply. This eliminates BOM complexity and reduces panel real estate compared to separate supplies.

Deployment Considerations:

  • Verify your facility's 115VAC 60Hz input availability before specifying this unit. Line conditioning or UPS integration may be required if AC stability is marginal in your site.
  • Plan daisy-chain topology early if you anticipate future expansion. Spade connector layout should be documented in your as-built access control schematic.
  • Test fire alarm disconnect functionality during system commissioning. Verify both latching and non-latching modes operate correctly and that emergency egress routes function as designed.

For security integrators standardizing on LINQ-enabled power architecture, the AL1024NKA8DQM is a reliable choice. It reduces field support overhead by consolidating monitoring and control into your existing network management interface, and the modular daisy-chain design means you can grow installations without replacing the base unit.
