Description

Middle Atlantic CFR-8-20 8RU In-Cabinet Frame Rack

Overview

The Middle Atlantic CFR-8-20 is a steel, open-frame rack chassis designed to mount inside an enclosure rather than stand alone — the correct choice when your cabinet lacks integrated rack rails and you need a rigid, code-compliant mounting structure for 1U–8U equipment. At 20 inches of usable depth, the CFR-8-20 accommodates most 1U security appliances, NVRs, and patch panels without protruding past standard mid-depth cabinet interiors. The flat black powder-coat steel frame resists corrosion in conditioned equipment rooms, and the 10-32 threaded rail pattern is the standard for rackmount IT and security hardware. UL Listed with a 250 lb load rating, this frame handles mixed-density loads — a fully populated NVR shelf with drives won't challenge it. TAA compliant for government and public-sector deployments.

Compatibility

The CFR-8-20 is designed for use with Middle Atlantic cabinets and enclosures that accept in-cabinet frame inserts, including the Middle Atlantic C-series, BGR-series, and similar enclosed rack enclosures with matching internal width. The 19.25-inch outer width and standard 10-32 rail pattern make it compatible with any cabinet that follows EIA-310 rail spacing. It will seat standard 19-inch rackmount equipment from any manufacturer — NVRs, PoE switches, patch panels, and UPS units all mount directly. For deployments where you're building out a NVR-based surveillance system inside a lockable enclosure, this frame provides the structural layer between the cabinet shell and your active hardware. Confirm your enclosure's internal usable depth and internal width before ordering; the CFR-8-20 requires at least 20 inches of clear internal depth and an EIA-compliant 19-inch bay.

Installation Notes

Mount the CFR-8-20 inside the host enclosure using the cabinet manufacturer's frame-mounting hardware — Middle Atlantic typically supplies cage nuts and mounting screws with the enclosure. The 10-32 threaded rails accept standard 10-32 rack screws; a #2 Phillips or 10-32 hex driver is sufficient. Usable rack height is 14 inches (35.6 cm) across 8RU — account for 1U blanking panels if leaving slots empty, which maintains airflow and structural rigidity under load. Product weight is 15.1 lbs unloaded; shipping weight is 20.6 lbs. Consider a rack power distribution unit for in-cabinet power management once the frame is populated.
