ACTi Z954 8MP Outdoor Speed Dome Camera
Overview
The ACTi Z954 is an 8MP outdoor speed dome built for wide-area perimeter and facility surveillance where you need motorized zoom to reframe on demand without swapping cameras. The 25x optical zoom (6–150mm, f1.5–3.4) lets operators track subjects across parking lots, building perimeters, and traffic zones from a single mounting point. IP66 rating handles rain, dust, and salt spray without degradation—critical for coastal or high-humidity industrial sites. Dual compression (H.265 and H.264) adapts to your network: H.265 cuts storage costs roughly in half versus H.264 on 24/7 recording, while H.264 ensures maximum VMS compatibility if your system predates 2018. WDR balances mixed lighting (bright sky + dark structure shadow) so you capture usable detail in parking lot and loading dock scenes without HDR halo artifacts. Adaptive infrared night vision sustains surveillance after dark. The Z954 accepts High PoE, DC24V, or AC24V power, giving you flexibility on infrastructure—PoE simplifies remote installs; 24V suits legacy electrical runs.
Compatibility
The Z954 is a standalone outdoor dome camera compatible with any ONVIF-compliant VMS (Milestone XProtect, Genetec Security Center, Axis Camera Station, etc.) via standard IP network integration. No special controllers, encoders, or interface modules are required—connect to your network, assign an IP address, and configure within your VMS. The motorized pan/tilt and zoom functions are accessed through ONVIF PTZ commands; any VMS supporting ONVIF Profile T (PTZ profile) can operate all movement and lens control. Audio input (line-level), digital I/O for relays, and microSD card slot (local backup up to the card's capacity) integrate with most enterprise surveillance platforms. Power compatibility: PoE (802.3af) injectors and managed switches with sufficient power budget; DC24V or AC24V power supplies for sites lacking PoE infrastructure.
Installation Notes
The Z954 weighs 19.8 lbs and requires secure overhead or wall mounting rated for at least 25 lbs holding capacity (use certified wall or conduit brackets rated for the full assembly weight plus wind load in your region). Lens barrel extends approximately 4 inches forward of the dome housing—verify clearance for overhang or soffit interference. PoE power draw averages under 13W (typical operation with IR off); infrared active can surge to ~18W depending on scene darkness, so confirm your PoE switch or injector can supply peak load across all connected cameras. Network cable (Cat5e or Cat6) carries both power and video; use shielded cabling for RF-noisy industrial environments. Factory-default IP is 192.168.0.1—change immediately during commissioning. Firmware updates available from ACTi support; test in a lab environment first to avoid production downtime.
