Overview

The EWR-8-22SD is an 8-rack-unit wall-mount enclosure from Middle Atlantic's Middle Atlantic rack and enclosure line built for security and AV equipment installations where floor space is unavailable. At 22 inches deep with 20 inches of usable depth, it handles full-depth NVRs, PoE switches, and access control panels without crowding cable management. The pivoting design lets the enclosure swing away from the wall for rear-access wiring — a meaningful advantage in IDF closets and utility rooms where technicians need to reach the back of gear post-installation. The solid locking front door keeps equipment secured in shared or semi-public spaces. This is a wall-mount rack for permanent installation; it is not a portable or open-frame solution. The EWR-8-22SD ships at 69 lbs — plan accordingly for wall-stud or unistrut anchoring.

Compatibility

Accepts any equipment built to standard EIA 19-inch rack dimensions using 10-32 threaded rack rails — the industry baseline for network and security hardware. The 8 RU of usable height (14 inches) fits typical small-site security stacks: a 4-channel or 8-channel NVR (1–2U), a PoE network switch (1U), a patch panel (1U), and a UPS or power strip in the remaining slots. The 150 lb UL-rated load capacity covers even high-density configurations. Compatible with standard Middle Atlantic rack accessories including power strips, cable management panels, and blanking panels sized for 19-inch rails. Installation Notes

Wall anchoring must support the combined weight of the enclosure (68 lbs product weight) plus up to 150 lbs of installed equipment — minimum two-stud or reinforced blocking mount is required at most sites.
