Overview

The Middle Atlantic EWR-16-17 is a 16-space (16 RU) open-frame wall rack designed for shallow equipment runs — security enclosures, patch panels, DVRs, and NVR appliances that don't justify a full floor cabinet. At 17 inches total depth with 15 inches of usable depth, this unit fits standard 1U and 2U rack-mount gear without the footprint penalty of a freestanding rack. The black wrinkle powder coat finish holds up to contact abrasion in utility closets and equipment rooms better than smooth paint. EWR-16-17 ships without a front door, keeping costs down for installs where access control or dust sealing isn't a requirement. TAA compliant for government and federally funded deployments.

Compatibility

Accepts any 19-inch rack-mount equipment using standard 10-32 threaded rail — the industry default for 1U through 4U gear including network video recorders, PoE switches, patch panels, UPS units, and rack-mount enclosures. The 15-inch usable depth accommodates most 1U managed switches and compact NVR appliances; verify chassis depth before ordering for anything deeper than 14 inches. At 28 inches of usable height (16 RU), this rack fits typical small-to-mid surveillance head-end configurations — 1U NVR, 1U switch, 1U patch panel, and a 1U UPS with room to spare. For deeper chassis or higher channel counts requiring more than 16U, consider a larger unit in the Middle Atlantic rack and enclosure line.

Installation Notes

Wall-mount installation requires a structural surface capable of supporting the combined rack and equipment load — the UL-listed load capacity is 150 lbs (68 kg), and the unit itself weighs 74 lbs (33.6 kg) unloaded, so plan for at minimum 224 lbs on the wall anchor points. The pivoting design allows the rack to swing away from the wall for rear-access wiring — a meaningful benefit in tight closets where reaching behind fixed equipment means removing it first. Width is 23.38 inches; confirm rough-in clearance before mounting. No front door means cable management and equipment face plates are fully visible; factor that into the install location decision if the space is customer-facing.
