Overview
The ACS8008-NA-DAC-400 is a 1U rack-mount serial console server in Vertiv's ACS8000 series, built for out-of-band management of data center and network infrastructure. It provides 8 RS-232 serial ports and 8 USB 2.0 ports for direct console access to routers, switches, servers, PDUs, and other serial-managed devices — keeping you in control even when the primary network path is down. Dual AC power inputs eliminate the single-supply failure mode that makes out-of-band access most critical. The TAA-compliant designation means this unit qualifies for federal procurement and government contracts where Trade Agreements Act compliance is mandatory.
Compatibility
Designed for the Vertiv ACS8000 platform, this unit integrates directly with Vertiv Avocent management software. The 8 RS-232 serial ports connect to any device with a standard serial console port — Cisco IOS/NX-OS, Juniper Junos, Arista EOS, HPE and Dell rack servers, managed network switches, APC/Vertiv PDUs, and similar serial-accessible infrastructure. The 2× GbE copper (10/100/1000BASE-T) and 2× GbE fiber SFP network interfaces support dual-path or bonded connectivity into your management network. Cellular fallback requires an external 4G/LTE router connected to one of the Ethernet ports — no internal modem is present. USB 2.0 hub support allows USB-console devices alongside the RS-232 ports. The full-size SD card slot supports local logging and configuration storage.
Installation Notes
At 1.75 in (1U) tall, 17.25 in wide, and 9.5 in deep, the unit fits standard 19-inch two-post and four-post racks. Maximum draw is 35W across the dual AC supplies — well within a standard PDU circuit. Wire both AC inputs to separate power feeds or UPS circuits to realize the redundancy the dual-supply design provides; a single-feed installation defeats that protection. The 4 digital I/O ports support environmental sensors or external alert triggers — check Vertiv's ACS8000 documentation for pinout and supported sensor types before wiring. No internal modem is present; if cellular failover is required, provision an external LTE router and connect it to one of the GbE ports before deployment.
