Overview
The ACS8016-NA-DAC-400 is a 1U, 16-port serial console server from Vertiv's ACS8000 family, designed for out-of-band management of data center and network infrastructure. Dual AC power supplies and TAA compliance make it a fit for government, defense, and enterprise environments requiring domestic acquisition traceability and redundant power paths. The unit supports up to 16 serial targets natively and expands to 16 via USB hub — useful in dense rack deployments where you need centralized CLI access to switches, routers, and PDUs without depending on the production network. Cellular failover is available through an external router rather than an internal modem, keeping the architecture flexible but requiring an additional device in the out-of-band stack.
Compatibility
Integrates with Vertiv's ACS8000 series ecosystem, including Vertiv infrastructure management platforms and associated out-of-band network management deployments. The dual 1GbE copper ports (10/100/1000BASE-T) and dual SFP fiber uplinks allow direct integration into both copper and fiber in-band management VLANs, or isolation on a dedicated OOB segment. Eight USB 2.0 ports pair with a USB hub to reach all 16 serial targets — compatible with standard USB-to-serial adapters used across major networking and data center infrastructure vendors. The full-size SD card slot supports local storage for configurations or logs. Cellular-capable deployments require pairing with a supported external LTE router for cellular out-of-band access over North American 4G/LTE bands (NA2 variant).
Installation Notes
Mounts in a standard 19-inch rack at 1U (1.75 in H × 17.25 in W × 9.5 in D). Dual AC inputs require two separate power feeds for true redundancy — confirm your PDU or branch circuit layout supports independent feeds before installation. Maximum draw is 35W under full load, so a single 20A circuit is more than sufficient for a single unit. At 6.2 lbs, standard rack-mount hardware is adequate; no special cable management arms are required, though rear-exit serial and USB cabling density at 16 ports warrants planning for cable organization in tight bays.
