Technical Highlights:

• Extreme WDR (150dB) with Automatic IR Cut Filter: 150dB WDR is engineered specifically for extreme contrast scenes where standard WDR (60–120dB) would crush either highlights or shadows. The mechanical IR cut filter switches automatically between day and night mode without frame glitches. On a mixed-light loading dock or fence line with adjacent tree cover, you capture forensic detail across both the bright and dim zones in the same frame, eliminating the need to adjust aperture or exposure compensation.
• PoE++ (802.3bt Class 3) / DC 12V Dual-Power: PoE++ Class 3 draws approximately 71W—manageable on a single IEEE 802.3bt switch port without auxiliary DC converters. DC 12V fallback is critical for existing hardwired infrastructure, and the RJ-45 pigtail connector allows field termination without splitters or adapters. On a 16-camera perimeter deployment, this flexibility simplifies logistics.
• H.265 Codec (40–60% Bitrate Reduction): H.265 cuts bitrate versus H.264 on the same quality—meaningful savings on 24/7 recording across multiple sites. MJPEG fallback is available if a legacy VMS doesn't support modern codecs, and the camera handles per-stream codec selection without re-encoding overhead.
• DLPU Edge Analytics: Deep Learning Processing Unit runs object detection and classification locally on the camera. Deployment Considerations:

• IR range of 65m is effective for fence lines and parking-lot perimeters but inadequate for long-distance identification of subjects beyond 80–100 feet. If your site requires 150m+ coverage, plan for supplementary external IR floods or consider a higher-focal-length variant.
• The 2.8mm fixed lens gives a wide 103.6° horizontal field of view—excellent for general-area surveillance but not optimal for fine facial or license-plate capture at distance. Pair with a second fixed 4mm or 6mm bullet on the same pole if identification is the primary goal.
• PoE++ (802.3bt) switches are now standard in new deployments, but older sites with only 802.3at (PoE+) switches will default to DC 12V wiring. Confirm your switch capability and power budget before purchase if you're retrofitting into legacy infrastructure.
• DLPU edge analytics require periodic firmware updates to maintain detection accuracy (especially for new object classes or seasonal lighting changes). Budget for a quarterly firmware check in your VMS maintenance schedule.
• The RJ-45 pigtail connector is convenient for field termination but requires careful strain relief in high-vibration environments (for instance, cameras mounted on cantilever poles near trucks or trains). Use cable glands and drip loops to prevent connector fatigue.

The A314 is purpose-built for integrators and end users who prioritize operational simplicity, low total cost of ownership, and forensic image quality in outdoor perimeter surveillance. It's an especially strong fit for retail, industrial, and transit sites where Extreme WDR and IR reach eliminate the capex and maintenance overhead of external lighting.
