ACTi A86 5MP Outdoor Zoom Dome Camera
The A86 is a 5MP motorized zoom dome designed for outdoor surveillance where you need flexible focal length coverage and weather resistance in a single camera. The 2.7–13.5mm lens (5x optical zoom) lets you frame subjects at multiple distances without swapping hardware or losing resolution — critical when your layout has mixed coverage distances (wide perimeter + detail zones). IP66 and IK10ratings mean direct rain, dust, and vandal-level impact won't compromise the housing. Operating range of –40°C to +50°C covers Arctic to subtropical deployments.
Overview
This is a fixed-installation outdoor dome, not a PTZ. The A86 delivers 5 MP (2592×1944) at 30 fps across all focal lengths, with motorized zoom but manual positioning. Extreme WDR (125 dB) balances exposure in high-contrast scenes (sun-facing entrances, loading docks with interior lighting). Adaptive IR LED extends visibility to 30m and maintains usable grayscale detail down to 0 lux when IR is active — no external illuminator needed. H.265, H.264, and MJPEG codec options let you optimize bitrate vs. storage on a per-stream basis; H.265 cuts bandwidth roughly in half compared to H.264 for equivalent quality. The camera includes two-way audio (mic-in, line-in, line-out) and edge analytics: Video Motion Detection, People Counting, and Smoke Detection run locally without offloading to an NVR or management server.
Compatibility
The A86 operates via single 10/100 Base-T Ethernet (RJ-45 pigtail connector) with ONVIF Profile S, G, T, and Q compliance — ensuring compatibility with major VMS platforms (Milestone, Genetec, etc.) and ONVIF-conformant NVRs. Power delivery is via PoE Class 3 (IEEE 802.3af, ~13W typical) or optional DC 12V direct supply. Mount options include wall, pole, pendant, corner, and rack configurations, adapting to a wide range of structural layouts. CE Class A, FCC Class A, and EAC approvals confirm regional regulatory acceptance.
Installation Notes
The A86 requires PoE Class 3 budget or DC 12V auxiliary power; verify your switch or injector has sufficient Class 3 capacity if daisy-chaining multiple cameras. The RJ-45 pigtail connector is weather-sealed; use standard outdoor-rated cabling. Board-mount lens design is fixed to the dome and not user-replaceable. Mechanical IR cut filter switches automatically between color (day) and monochrome (night) based on light levels; this transition is configurable in the camera's ISP settings if your scene has stable illumination. Electronic shutter range (1/5–1/64000 second) accommodates both slow-motion surveillance and bright outdoor glare.
