Overview
The ACTi Z86 is a 4MP outdoor zoom dome built for perimeter surveillance, parking lots, and facility monitoring where you need both wide overview and zoom-in detail from a single camera position. The motorized 2.8–12mm lens (4.3x zoom, f1.6) lets you adjust framing remotely without climbing a ladder or accessing the camera directly — critical when mounting on tall poles or building edges. IP67 sealing blocks dust and direct rain; IK10 impact rating (metal casing) resists vandalism and physical stress. H.265 compression cuts storage roughly in half versus H.264, a real factor when running 24/7 on modest bandwidth. IR night vision extends usable monitoring into complete darkness. PoE (802.3af, under 13W) means one cable handles power and video — no separate supply runs.
Compatibility
The Z86 integrates into any standard IP surveillance system supporting ONVIF or vendor-specific management platforms. Works with enterprise NVRs, VMS software (Milestone, Genetec, AXIS Camera Station), and IP-based recording appliances. Network switches with 802.3af PoE ports power the camera directly; no additional PoE injectors needed if your switch has budget. The built-in microphone integrates with systems supporting audio capture over IP. MicroSDHC card slot enables local failover recording if network outage occurs.
Installation Notes
Mount on ceilings, walls, or pendant fixtures using the dome base — verify mounting surface can support 1.55 lbs plus fixture hardware. Network cable run should not exceed 328 feet (100m) for standard Cat5e/Cat6 and 802.3af PoE. Position dome to minimize direct sun into the lens during peak hours to avoid WDR overload. Auto-focus feature activates during installation for quick commissioning; lock focus once dialed in. Operating temperature range –40°C to 60°C (–40°F to 140°F) — confirm installation site falls within this window, especially for cold climates without heated housings.
