ACTi Z82 4MP Outdoor Zoom Dome Camera
Overview
The ACTi Z82 is a 4MP outdoor zoom dome built for perimeter and mid-range monitoring where you need flexible focal length adjustment without swapping lenses or repositioning hardware. The 2.7-12mm motorized lens gives you a 4.4x zoom range (91° to 27° horizontal field of view), letting operators frame subjects from wide overview shots to tight close-up detail remotely. IP67 rating means dust and direct water spray won't compromise the optics—deploy this in coastal salt air, rain-exposed loading docks, or washdown zones without worry. The Z82 solves the installation problem of needing multiple fixed-lens cameras to cover one zone: zoom in or out via network control, reducing hardware count and service visits.
Compatibility
The Z82 integrates with any network video management system supporting ONVIF Profile S/T (via H.265 or H.264 streams). It draws 15W via standard 802.3af PoE, so it works with any managed or unmanaged PoE switch without requiring PoE+ injectors. Microphone output connects to any ONVIF-compliant VMS that captures embedded audio—Milestone Hydrogen, Axis Camera Station, and vendor-agnostic NVRs with ONVIF audio support all accept the Z82's stream and mic feed. The camera outputs both H.265 (efficient for storage-constrained builds) and H.264 (for legacy VMS compatibility), so codec choice doesn't lock you to a specific platform.
Installation Notes
Power and video arrive on a single Cat5e/Cat6 run using standard PoE (802.3af, 13W per IEEE 802.3)—no separate 12V DC supply required. The built-in motor focuses automatically during commissioning, eliminating manual lens adjustment. Mount the dome on ceiling or wall surfaces rated for the 2.2 lb weight. WDR processing handles mixed lighting (sun-blasted perimeter + shadowed doorway) in real-time, so commissioning doesn't require HDR post-processing. IR LEDs activate in low light automatically; the 2D+3D digital noise reduction keeps night video clean without excessive blur.
