Overview
The ACTi Z79 is a compact 4MP outdoor turret designed for mid-range surveillance where durability and mixed-lighting performance matter. At 2.2 lbs with a turret form factor, it mounts cleanly on walls or ceilings without the bulk of larger housings. The Z79 solves the central problem of outdoor deployments: delivering usable color detail by day while maintaining night vision without supplemental lighting, and protecting the camera from weather, dust, and impact stress. This is the right choice for retail perimeters, warehouse loading bays, transit facilities, and municipal parking zones where space is tight and weather exposure is constant.
Compatibility
The Z79 integrates with any standard IP video management system (VMS) or network video recorder (NVR) that supports ONVIF-compliant IP cameras. It outputs H.265 and H.264 video streams, so it works with legacy H.264-only NVRs and newer bandwidth-conscious H.265 deployments without codec translation. PoE (802.3af) power means it connects to any standard PoE switch or PoE injector rated for 13W minimum per camera. The built-in microphone feeds audio into any NVR or VMS that accepts analog or network audio input, enabling two-way communication or incident recording with ambient sound.
Installation Notes
The Z79 draws under 13W via 802.3af PoE—no separate DC power supply required. IP68 rating permits full submersion and outdoor roof mounting; IK10 impact rating (metal casing) withstands significant mechanical stress and vandalism attempts. MicroSD card slot allows local buffering if network connectivity is intermittent. Fixed 2.8mm lens at F2.0 with 90° horizontal field of view; no focusing adjustment needed after initial aim. Operating range -40°C to 60°C (-40°F to 140°F) covers most outdoor climates.
