Overview
The ATEN VM7584K2 is a 4-port singlemode fiber optical input card designed for installation into compatible ATEN modular matrix switches. It provides four bi-directional SFP+ (LC) interfaces over singlemode (SM) fiber with a maximum reach of 10km (approximately 6.2 miles) — making it the right choice when source equipment and the matrix chassis are in separate buildings or across a campus where multimode fiber's 300m ceiling isn't enough. Each port uses a Blue LC duplex connector, consistent with standard SM fiber color-coding. The VM7584K2 slots directly into the matrix chassis input bay; no separate transceiver hardware is required beyond the SFP+ modules appropriate for your fiber plant.
Compatibility
The VM7584K2 is compatible with ATEN modular matrix systems that accept 4K optical input cards in the VM7000 input card series. Contrast with the sibling VM7584K1, which uses multimode (MM) OM3 fiber for runs up to 300m — if your cable plant is already terminated with OM3 LC duplex, use the VM7584K1 instead. The VM7584K2 requires singlemode LC duplex fiber and SM-compatible SFP+ transceivers at both ends. Installation Notes
Operating humidity is rated at 0–80% RH, non-condensing — do not install in environments subject to condensation. The card ships in a carton lot of 2 units. IR extension is available via 4 x Mini Stereo Jack Female (Black) connectors, one per port, for deployments requiring infrared pass-through. Link status is indicated by 4 orange LEDs, one per port.
