I spec the 2N IP Solo flush mount when a site already has fixed cameras covering the entry point and just needs clean two-way audio for access control. The flush profile keeps it discreet in lobbies or corridors where aesthetics matter, and the IP architecture means you're routing everything over your existing network—no separate intercom wiring to pull. I've deployed these in multi-tenant office buildings where the property manager wanted uniform door stations without redundant cameras cluttering the wall.
One thing to confirm upfront: verify your network can handle PoE at the mounting location. The unit pulls power over Ethernet, so if you're retrofitting older buildings, make sure your switch supports 802.3af and that cable runs meet spec. Also, while it integrates well with Axis ecosystems, you'll want to map out your SIP trunking or VoIP setup in advance—this isn't plug-and-play unless your network team has already configured the call routing. Plan that piece early and installation goes smooth.
